Find East Arkansas Regional Unit Inmates

East Arkansas Regional Unit is a state prison in Lee County, Arkansas, and it is searched through the statewide corrections system rather than a county jail roster. People trying to look up inmates at East Arkansas Regional Unit should use the Arkansas DOC inmate search for sentenced state custody and should not assume every Lee County arrestee is housed there. The facility also has a documented local jail-operation connection, so custody questions need a clear split between county detainees, state prisoners, court records, and notification tools.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Prison Role

East Arkansas Regional Unit is operated by the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Division of Correction. It is a DOC state prison located in Lee County, not the default county jail roster for every local arrest. The official DOC profile places the unit southeast of Forrest City in Lee County and lists a state-prison operation with education, industry, agriculture, chaplaincy, substance abuse education, life skills, and jail operation among its functions.

The most important lookup distinction is custody type. A sentenced Arkansas prisoner assigned to East Arkansas Regional Unit should be searched through the Arkansas DOC inmate population search. A newly arrested Lee County detainee should still be checked through the sheriff first unless the sheriff or court record says the person has moved into DOC custody or is specifically housed through the unit's local jail-operation capacity.

The state source for this facility is the official East Arkansas Regional Unit page, which provides the DOC facility listing.

East Arkansas Regional Unit inmate lookup and DOC facility profile

The facility profile supplies the key state-prison facts used here, including the DOC operator, capacity, accreditation, directions, phone, fax, and program list.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Capacity

The current Arkansas DOC facility page lists East Arkansas Regional Unit capacity as 1,648. The 2023 ACA audit lists capacity as 1,700 and also states that the unit maintains a rated capacity of 32 male detainees from Lee County, Arkansas. Those are different source dates and different reporting contexts, so they should not be blended into one number.

The DOC capacity describes the state-prison unit. The 32-detainee audit reference is the local Lee County hook that makes East Arkansas Regional Unit relevant to county jail population research. It does not mean the full prison population is the Lee County jail population, and it does not mean all Lee County arrestees are housed at East Arkansas Regional Unit. Most inmates at the unit are state prisoners under DOC custody.

Search East Arkansas Regional Unit Inmates

Use Arkansas DOC inmate search for East Arkansas Regional Unit inmates. The DOC locator is a statewide sentenced-prisoner tool, not a Lee County jail roster. It can be searched by ADC Number, county, last name, first name, and facility. The facility dropdown includes East AR Region.Unit, and the county dropdown includes Lee.

  1. Open the Arkansas DOC inmate search and choose the cleanest identifier available.
  2. Search by ADC Number if court papers, prior DOC records, or family records provide one.
  3. For a name search, enter last name and first name, then narrow by county or facility when needed.
  4. Confirm the listed facility, status, offense, and identifying details before relying on the result.
  5. If no result appears, check name spelling, aliases, court status, county custody, federal custody, or immigration custody.

The DOC search path should be paired with court and sheriff checks when the arrest was recent. Search ARCourts can show whether a Lee County case has a sentence, revocation, commitment, or other DOC-related order. The sheriff can answer whether a local arrestee is still in county custody, released, or transferred.

The official DOC search interface shows the statewide fields. Review the Arkansas DOC inmate population search when a sentenced person may be at East Arkansas Regional Unit.

The locator is most useful when the searcher has an ADC number, but name, county, and facility filters can narrow common-name results.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Contact

East Arkansas Regional Unit should be contacted for state-prison facility questions, DOC visitor approval, approved phone lists, facility assignment, and prison mail or deposit routing. It should not be used as the first source for every new Lee County arrest unless the sheriff, court, or DOC record points to the unit. The official DOC page gives the facility mailing address, phone, fax, and driving directions.

DOC directions place the unit about 17 miles southeast of Forrest City in Lee County. The DOC route from Pine Bluff goes east on Highway 79 to Marianna, turns at the first red light when entering Marianna, continues on Highway 79, turns onto Highway 131, then turns left onto a gravel road near the unit. In-person prison visitation is more restricted than a simple jail lobby visit. Approval is not instant, and the inmate must provide the Visitation/Telephone Contact Request and Authorization Form. DOC staff do not provide that form directly to the public. The warden must approve phone and visitor contacts, and extra rules can apply to visitors with past felony convictions or current supervision.

DOC allows deposits to an inmate trust account or prepaid phone account online, by smartphone, by phone, and through some retail locations. DOC also announced that paper money orders are no longer accepted after May 31, 2025, so families should check current DOC instructions before sending funds.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Mail

The official facility mailing address is P.O. Box 970, Marianna, AR 72360. East Arkansas Regional Unit Intake

State-prison intake is different from street-arrest booking. A person reaches DOC custody after a court sentence, revocation, commitment, or other prison placement order. DOC classification and placement then determine the assigned facility. Facility assignment can change because of security needs, medical needs, discipline, program placement, bed space, or transfer.

A Lee County arrest does not guarantee placement at East Arkansas Regional Unit. The unit is physically in Lee County and has a jail-operation function, but the DOC locator should be read as a state-prison record. If a person is newly arrested and not yet sentenced, the sheriff and Search ARCourts are usually the better starting points. Once sentenced, the DOC record becomes the main custody record.

DOC
Arkansas Department of Corrections, Division of Correction, the state-prison agency.
ADC Number
A state corrections identifier that is more precise than a name search.
Commitment
A court order sending a sentenced person into DOC custody.
Classification
The prison process used to assign custody level, housing, programs, and transfer needs.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Programs

The official DOC page lists an unusually broad set of operations and programs at East Arkansas Regional Unit. Published items include education, dyslexia intervention, the Jet Program, literacy levels, GED and Ready Testing, iCEV industry-recognized credentials, ServSafe Food Handler, ACCA/EPA 608, AWS, NCCER, building trades, building and grounds maintenance, HVAC-R, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and agriculture.

The same DOC profile also lists chaplaincy services, Central Arkansas Baptist Bible Institute, industry, jail operation, life skills, substance abuse education, and Think Legacy. Program access depends on custody classification, unit assignment, discipline status, available seats, and DOC policy. Family members should not infer eligibility from the public program list alone.

Note: Confirm custody, approval status, and visit scheduling with DOC before traveling to East Arkansas Regional Unit.

East Arkansas Regional Unit Search Limits

East Arkansas Regional Unit is one part of the Lee County detention map, but it does not replace the sheriff, court, federal, or immigration systems. State prisoners are searched through DOC. Recent Lee County arrestees should be checked through the sheriff. Filed court charges should be checked through Search ARCourts. Federal sentenced prisoners should be checked through BOP, and immigration detainees through ICE ODLS.
